
Bernardo
Cesare, born in 1963 in Chirignago, geologist, is associate Professor
of Petrography
at the Department of
Geosciences of the University of Padova (Italy).
His scientific
interests include mineralogy, metamorphism and melting of rocks,
the origin of granitic magmas and the geology of Alps. In his
scientific publications he uses photomicrographs and macrophotographs
to describe the subjects of study and their morphological features.
He
is the coordinator of the European Intensive Seminars of Petrology for
PhD students (www.eurispet.eu).
He
is also an amateur photographer with artistic intent, and his rock
photomicrographs have been displayed in art galleries of Venice (1998)
and Milan (1999), at mineralogical and scientific exhibits in Perugia
(2004) and Munich (2007), in Natural Sciences Museums in Paris (2004)
Pordenone (2006) Padova (2008) and published in photographic (Il
Fotografo, 2000) and popular (Airone, 2000) magazines, as well as in
geological (cover photo in Journal of Metamorphic Geology,
2006; Elements, 2008) and microscopic journals (infocus Magazine).
In
2009 the starts the MicROCKScopica - Rock Art project, and the
collaboration with Visuals
Unlimited.

2009: Second and Third place at the 2008-9 "Art in Crystallography
Prize" of the American Crystallographic Association
2009: ninth place plus image of distinction at Nikon Small World contest
